wow.... i havent been on this forum in years.... anyways wen i did have my crabs... they only lived about 2 months.... first one with what looked like an injusry died... and he was most active too. what i think was an injury (which kept him out of any shells) was on the tail that holds them to their shell, was looked like a piece of meat from inside of him, sticking out. eventually he dehydrated himself to death. The next one to die was my grayish white crab... I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that my largest crab was after it..after a few days of not seeing it in the sand i looked behind a fake plant and was disgusted with what i saw. This crab was ripped apart, actaully split in half, it looked like it tried to stay in its shell and actually ripped in half, and by the time i found it, it smelled awful and was shrivling up. Finally the last to die was my largest crab, who used to break out of the tank. After he molted... he refused to get into any shell we had. he never regained his dark brownish purple color either. He remained pink for quite a while and eventually dehydrated to death. It seems like every time i get hermit crabs they die..... and i miss those three (my original ones)
