lt12345 Dec 23, 2006 04:04 PM

i found my hermit crab today out of his shell hanging half out of his water dish, with his shell inside of it, it has lost colour in its body and looks almost white, i believe it is dead, but it doesnt really give off an odor?

Is it's abdomen attached? If so, and the hermie is not moving then you can assume they're dead. If the abdomen isn't attached, hen they're molting.

Yes, dead hermit crabs give off a fishy odor when they die.
