What lizard eats...

Zippidde Oct 12, 2003 11:42 AM

I am curious what lizard also eats fish in their diet. Doesn't have to be a staple diet of fish but one that will on occasion like eating fish. I have guppies and often have more babies than I know what to do with so am considering a lizard (not snake) that can eat excess guppies.

I think chinese water dragons will eat them, but I can't think of any lizard that could eat JUST fish. And all the lizards mentioned so far are a lot of work to go through just to have something to eat fish. I wish there was a way you could send them to me, I have a turtle who eats 8 dozen a week.

Yeah, I remember about the chinese water dragons eating some fish and aquatic turtles. But I was wondering if there was anything else (that didn't get big or overly agressive when it comes to handling). A reptile that occasionally eats fish is okay and requires another food source as staple.

Don't you realize? Having too much fish is a GREAT excuse in getting another reptile. Not that I go and buy what I can't care for. I also breed crickets, roaches, and mealworms for future pets. I also have an over abundance of fruit flies, so I just try to get pets that I can care for and eat what I have too much of. It never hurts to learn of other species of reptiles that might be of interest to keep, but I don't go buying them unless I am able to properly care for them...

Oh, it's a great excuse! I've gotten herps on a lot less of an excuse, trust me. But to me personally it wouldn't be such a great excuse to get something that was big and a lot of trouble. The problem is that I can't think of any smaller lizards that eat fish only occasionally. Chinese water dragons get 3 feet long and need biiig cages from what I've read.
The turtle I mentioned may eventually get 24 inches across... I think I got him because he 'looked sad'.
