I'm hoping to get a bird in a month or so. So far for what my requirements are, these look like good candidates. I'm not sure what's the better of the two though, and perhaps there is something i'm overlooking. This is what i'm looking for though.
Medium sized bird, Nothing smaller then a cockatiel, and nothing that would require a huge cage.
I understand a bird is going to make noise. It's a fact of life. However, nothing that is extremely loud. I live in a townhouse(or for those in the city, it's a fancy word for a rowhouse). Although we don't really have any rules against it, out of respect for the neighbors, I don't want to do that.
It would be fun to have a bird could say a few phrases, but it's least important of all things.
I've got around $1000 to work with on the bird and initial setup up costs.
I understand that some traits are specific to each bird itself, but I ask in general about each species. Considering what I am looking for, are these species I want to look at. Is there one I haven't looked at that I should be? I will hopefully get to the bird place next week too look at these two ( I did go see green cheeks a few weeks ago, I was told to look at Pionus after that visit). I'll make a few more visits probably before the decision is made, so if something is suggested afterward, i'll add it to my list and go see if next time I go back.
