Princess of Wales parakeet?

just_ducky Nov 24, 2004 08:54 PM

Hi,
I recently saw a princess of wales parakeet at a pet store. Well, I decided to reasearch them more online, and I can't find much information on them. I've never had a parrot before, so how are they for first birds? Are they nippy? How loud are they? What's their personality like- are the cuddly? How long do they live? What size cage do they need? I read that they're mostly aviary birds, is that because they don't make good pets? Also, I've been looking at green cheek and black cap conures, and was wondering how loud are they? I've gotten diferent responses from everyone I've asked.
Thanks!

Black cappeds are absolutely my favorite conures. In my experience, they were LESS noisy then a cockatiel. They`re not too loud. Just be sure that it`s a black capped and not a nanday conure (which can occassionally be called things like black hooded or black masked conures, and things along those lines). Nandays are LOUD. Black cappeds aren`t.

Pyrrhura conures can be wonderful, playful, mischeivous pets. I just adore them! But I fear I don`t know much about Princess of Wales `keets.
