BEAK CLIPPING

WHEN CLIPPING MY AFRICAN GREY, I SOMETIMES MAKE IT BLEED SLIGHTLY.INSTEAD OF APPLYING FERIC CHLORIDE,IS IT SAFE TO CAUTERIZE IT WITH A HOT IRON INSTEAD?

First of all, it should not be necessary to clip the beak of your bird. If it is, it should only be done by a vet as the beak is very full of blood vessels and nerves.

Provide your bird with plenty of hard woods to chew on and she should keep it groomed.

An over grown beak can often mean that there is a medical problem that needs to be addressed and I suggest that you take the bird to a vet for the proper treatment as well as any grooming of the beak that needs to be done.
