I've read a lot about parakeet(budgies) breeding and I am conscious of all the difficulties and all the things that could go wrong. However, I've decided to give it a try hoping to be successful.

I visited a pet store about a week ago and bought a breeding box for my two budgies. At first they were afraid of it, but they got used to it after a while. I've seen the female going inside the box several times and even spending most of the day inside the box. I've never seen the male going inside the box though. It seems like the female won't let him in.

Another thing that I have noticed is that ever since I put the box into the cage the two parakeets take care of each other more frequently. I've seen them sharing seeds more often than usual. And they seem to be more interested in each other.

My questions are:
-Is it normal for the female not to let the male into the box?
-Is it normal for the famale to spend so much time inside the breeding box?
-Should I provide any type of breeding material such as hay, wood shavings, or shreded newspaper?
-If I have to provide breeding materials, should I put them into the box or should I place them on the bottom of the cage so they can build their own "nest" inside the breeding box?
-If the female lays eggs, should I leave the eggs into the box so she can take care of them or should I take them out of the box and take care of them myself?
-If I leave the eggs for the female to take care of them, do I have to remove the babies once the eggs hatch?
-Do the parents mean any harm to the babies once the eggs hatch?
-If I have to take care of the eggs myself, what materials do I need and how should I do it?
-If I have to take care of the eggs myself, can I put the babies back with their parents once the eggs hatch?
-If I have to take care of the eggs myself, should I keep the babies separate from their parents until they reach a certain age?

I think those are all my questions for right now. Please HELP!! I need to know all that in order for me to take good care of my parakeet during the process.
