Mice and "Total Gutload"

steen Oct 12, 2003 12:27 PM

I was wonering if anyone had an opinion about whether or not giving my mice "Total Gutload" before feeding them to my ball python would be beneficial. Does anyone feel strongly for or against it? Why or why not? Is it worth a little extra expense? I just want the best for my baby.

Thanks!

if you are breeding your own feeders.. they are what they eat as they grow up..

so feed a high quality diet, and that will translate into your snake!

PS.. how was the show?! you find what you were looking for?

...the problem is that I'm NOT breeding my own feeders. With gutload, I guess you take them off of feed for a day and them let them eat the stuff an hour or so before feeding them. I'm just not sure whether or not it contains the right nutrients for a ball python....which brings me to your question: YES!! I found a *beautiful* baby girl at the show...I'm usually bad with decisions, so I was shocked at how quickly I picked her out...I got her from Inland Reptiles...she was SO healthy, and not head shy! An adorable little baby. I know you're supposed to give them a few days to get settled, but I only gave her one because she hadn't eaten since the 20th of last month and she didn't seem stressed at all...I haven't seen her ball up yet. Overall, the show was alright...smaller than I'd hoped, but tons of fun. Thanks for asking!

or not?..

i can give you the names of some decent rodent breeders in the area who would sell you nice quality feeders for less than petstore prices toss me an email sometime

i was at the shot myself.. inland reptiles had some decent stuff.. $800 pastel jungle balls... i was droolin over the albino and snow kenyans a few tables down

i did pick up a few things.. a male albino cali king for my girl.. and a huge female snow corn for my group.. nothin special..

it was "cornsnake hell" again this year.. which is to be expected i guess LOL

I'm from Pullman..just drove over for the show. Living here (small college town), I pretty much have 2 choices for mice. Grrr... I know what you mean about "cornsnake hell"...there were tons of them!! The worst part is that 99.9% of them were normals...I didn't see any high-end morphs at all.

pullman isnt that bad..

i own property in the "ephrata" area and i go camping over there all the time.. so i know all about the lack of petstores on the eastside of the pass..

ya.. corns up the kazoo.. none which were really "neat".. rhonda from NW herps had some nice ones.. but alittle too pricey for me..

every year is the same.. cornsnake hell!.. LOL
