found baby morning dove with broken leg and wont fly

cindye Aug 17, 2005 10:40 AM

my friend's cat caught a baby morning dove and it had a broken leg. My friend is keeping it in cat carrier and has let it out so the parents can feed it. the parents have been feeding it but the baby bird will not fly away. the question is when will the baby bird learn how to fly?

Thanks,
Cindye

Hello,

first off, let me say be VERY careful kitty saliva is life threatning to a bird and even people because of the bacteria in it. The bird should be flying soon if it is fully feathered.I hope the carrier has been washed out before the bird went in? Its seems all is well, I just don't want to see the poor thing die.

if you need any more help feel free to ask away.
