Goffin Cockatoo

I work at a local pet store and I'm looking at adopting a goffin 'too. He's had a rough 'childhood' and I feel so bad for him and I just know that I have the means and the motivation to provide him with a good home.
He was not taken care of very wel as a youngling...he has a missing claw and (apparently) has had a couple of health problems in the past. He is healthy and friendly now though. I really want this bird to have a good life, I've fallen in love with him over the past couple of months and if he's not adopted by a customer today, I will try to get him. He goes to the vet for a check up before I will take him to make sure that he is indeed in proper health to go to a new home.
Is there anything I should know/do because of his rough upbrining? I don't see him having a bad personality, but he may be 'spoiled' and he's like 6 mos. old....I'm doing all the reading I can, but I thought some experienced advice might help too...thanks!

Having a "secondhand" parrot can be tough work but also a very rewarding experience. You have to show a great deal of patience and realize he will very likely go through mood swings. He may be friendly one day and obnoxious the next!! Keep being persistent. Work out a flexible training schedule and cuddling schedule. Make sure he is on a good healthy diet and if not get him switched to one. But mostly enjoy him and love him and with enough time and patience he should be a wonderful friend.
