neo is doing worse. he seems to be in a constant state of panic. he will not play with his toys, I have even tried playing with him. he just sits on the door of the cage and makes the same little tweety sound every few seconds. I try and pick him up, and he runs off. or he will step up, and he seems to be holding on for dear life. i will try and pet him to calm him, and he gets all jumpy. i went to clip his wings today because he jumped off and flew around. i didnt want him to get hurt. he has never cared before when i scooped him up to do his toenails, but he freaked out and bit me HARD 5 times. they are all really bad bites, not just nips. i dont understand my little friend and dont know how to help him. he is my first handfed baby ever, and i waited so long for him. maybe i was never ready for a bird after all. i will do whatever he needs, even if that may be finding a new home.

Be patient don't jump to any conclusions that you are not a wonderful bird "mommy". Your buddy has just been through some big changes. Even though he didn't like the ringneck that well he was still used to it. He is also in a new home. He has had many changes all at once. It might be a good time to get a checkup, depending on when the last one was, as stress can sometimes cause sickness in birds. After you are sure there is no sickness involved you may have to almost start over. Give him time to settle in. Try not to react to bites. Offer some warm soft foods in the morning and maybe even feed him off of a spoon etc to calm him. Play him music. Try to be peaceful around him even when he bites hard. It will take some time to get him to settle back in and feel comfortable though so try not to worry too much. Also many babies go through a testing period when they will bite and see exactly what they can get away with kind of like a toddler child. Neo may also be doing this after his recent stresses.
