how does one find out who and where the original breeder of a bird is by referencing the info on the band? i've got one and so does a friend of mine, and they wanted to know, so of course, now i'm curious too!!!

How old are both of your birds? If you would like you can email me the info from the bands and I will see if I can find the info for you. There is both a USDA registry for birds that are older than 15 years old and possibly imported and a few volunteer registries for breeders within the united states. Usually the letters stand for the name of the breeder or aviary and/or possibly the state located. The numbers can be a code for the birthdate/year or sometimes even for the state, area, breeder number etc.
