I am considering getting a pair of zebra or society finches, but I am a busy graduate student and do not have time or space to breed my pair. I also really like the songs that male sings and I know I want at least 1 zebra. What do you think about the following pairing, can you think of other problems or solutions to my problems?
1) 2 male zebras: will they fight a lot? If not, will they sing if not in the presence of a female?
2) 1 male zebra 1 female society: is it right to assume that they cannot interbreed? I'm afraid that the male zebra will be too fiesty and mean to the docile female society though.
3) 1 male society and 1 female zebra. I'm leaning toward this now, but with the assumption again that they cannot breed AND that they'll get along.
Please, any help will be greatly appreciated! Especially if you have experience housing the 2 together!
