Finding ostriches

jeffco Apr 15, 2007 05:16 PM

Is there any laws regarding the sale of Ostriches in the united states. I really want one for my mom, and I know it will be extremely well taken care of, I just can't seem to find any for sale. I called an ostrich farm in the state I live in (AZ) and they said they don't sell any chicks within the United States. Is there a reason for this, or are they just picky? Does anyone know where I can find an ostrich chick?

I don't know why the farm in AZ won't sell chicks in the US. I believe I know the one you're talking about, and from what I've gathered, the guy may be a bit 'off.' Who knows. There are no laws prohibiting the sale of ratites in the US, only occasionally issues with transporting them across state lines as there are with most types of livestock. E-mail me at info@rivervalleyexotics.com and I'll see if I can help you find some chicks.
