over dominating male?

keelsey Oct 12, 2003 12:45 PM

i have two young cwd, after persistant questioning the store owner who is a good friend said they were accurately sexed and it was a male and female, stv 5", i thought sexing was questionable at best at this size, but was repeatedly reassured, anyways, the "male" seems to be doing alot of waving and bobbing, and little "charges" at the "female", although she was the first to feed(4 mealworms) almost instantly upon arrival,"he" know eats sm crickets from tongs, and she dosent appear to be hungry anymore.mealies are available in small bowl she had previously eaten from before, but i havent noticed any missing.enclosure is 5x2dx2.5h and three basking spots well seperated and large cat pan of water with filtration. sorry so long but the store has another female the same size and i could get her to minimize or (split)the negative male attention, thanx in advance, any help/experiences much appreciated, keelsey

The behavior of your 'male' sounds alot like the behavior of one of my females. She is extremely agressive towards other water dragonswether they are male or female. She has bit the male she is with many times even though he is much bigger than her. She has also attacked the other female she is with. Only with the other female she has waved her arms and bobbed her head. Although my male bobs his head all the time he has never once waved his arms.
