Moulting Canary

t_ouk Jun 17, 2003 08:26 PM

Hi, I am from Australia and here our canaries moult january to about march

A friend of mine has a male canary who is now still moutling and hasn't started singing again yet.

I have heard this can be caused from poor nutrition or a hormone imbalance...

She feeds her canary a seed, vegetable and fruit diet. Feeding things such as Broccoli, Milk Thistle, Spinach among other things. So we feel it must not be caused by poor diet.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what we could do to help the canary get over the moult that he seems stuck in.

Is there anything which can be done for a bird with hormone imbalance?

Thanks for your help
Kristy

Has her bird seen a vet for a complete physical? That's my recommendation and to follow the vet's advice. That's an awful long time and stress for this bird!

Let us know what the vet says.
