Brand does not matter really. You just need to make sure that they are pure fruit purees without added sugar.

Read the label. There should be an ingredients list, or it will say 100% fruit.

Definitly read the labels, but all of the "Step 1" baby foods I've looked at are fruit only without the added fillers or junk. For example, I believe it is banana baby food that is almost pure banana at "Step 1" but is either close or over 50% starch filler when you move up to "Step 2" baby food.

Also, it really isn't that difficult to make your own! All you need is fruit, a fork (or something to mash it with), a ziplock type bag and an ice cube tray.

If your curious as to how much filler/starch/sugar is added to the baby food, a trip around a parenting website will probably satisfy that curiosity.

I find that they especially like Gerber Tender Harvest apple mango kiwi. It is organically grown and has no sugars added. All of my crested seem to eat it.
