my gouldian finch hen has been laying eggs but they never hatch.the pair takes turns incubating the eggs but i have never seen them mating. please help.

How old are your finches? Are they still young? Sometimes it takes a while for gouldians to learn to raise their young. Have you candled the eggs to see if they were fertile? Have you seen the male doing his little mating dance? the little hop hop dance? What about diet? Not sure about what all you've tried. Can you give a little more background?
Do you have other finches? Gouldians take a bit more time and patience than the zebras or societies. Some people keep a societies in case they need a pair to foster the gould's. Some goulds will toss the babies or not tend to them. What birds have you bred before?

Ive had these gouldians for about two and a half years.
I have tried candling the eggs, most are clear but some do have a darker center which never seems to develop. I have seen the male do the hop dance many times, and the female responds, but i have never seen actual mating take place. They get a pretty varied diet but im open to suggestions.
In the past i have raised cockatails and and doves before and i know gouldians are not the best parents but i feel bad that they spend so much time in the nest box
