Finch Eggs Question

geckogurl_04 Mar 11, 2004 01:09 AM

Hi. Im normally a reptile person but i recently found a couple of finch eggs at my work (I work in a pet store). Iv'e never had finches and I don't know how to incubate them. Obviously it would be better to leave them with the parents but in this situation its not an option. If someone can tell me how to incubate the eggs Id really appreciate it.

Thee are two of them and I know they are fertile because I candled them. They are most likely zebras but Im not positive because they came from a mixed species cage. They are all white though if that means anything. I have a small science project type chicken egg incubator that they are in right now. I read somewhere that they should be at 99.5 degrees F. Is this right? What about humidity? Any info would be great. Thanks!

Emily

Emily you have chosen one of the hardest eggs to hatch in an incubator! I say give it a try though.About 99 is the right temp but the humidity Im not sure on.I dont know anyone who has ever hatched these but I know they can be hand fed.I usually use my society finches who will sit on anything even when they arent breeding themself.
