What species is this?

viandy Sep 14, 2004 10:12 PM

Went to buy what we were told was a golden-breasted starling on Sunday. This is the bird, which isn't that. Still got him, caring for in the general softbill / insectivore manner, but would really like to know what species he actually is to make husbandry adjustments.. Responses appreciated! Thanks!!

Sorry if you've already received an answer. I just started reading this forum. Just in case you haven't:

Looks like a Green Singer Finch (sometimes called a Canary Finch).

Related to the Canary. Here's a link with info http://www.finchworld.com/singer.html

Green singers are a little duller in colour usually and are much smaller and more streamlined than that guy appeared to be..
