Just curious...has anyone here ever finger-trained their finch or canary? I've heard it's possible, and I'm wondering if it really is.

Just like any other bird or animal, canaries can be hand tamed and trained! And it’s not a difficult task! (check http://mycanaries.com to see the proof) When tamed they become proper little mates and can be quite mischievous, once tamed they will be into anything and everything, so steps should be taken to protect them from dangerous situations.
Canaries can be tamed and will eat out of your hand! AND, canaries are every bit as easy to tame as any parrot, perhaps easier!
One big bonus you have in training a canary rather than a parrot:
Canaries may give you a gentle nibble, but any parrot can and will take a lump out of your finger if he feels like it!
