one-legged strawberry finch

robink Jan 22, 2005 01:04 AM

I'm adopting a young male strawberry finch with one leg. He came into a pet store with a broken leg and it eventually had to be amputated. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can make this little guy's life a little easier as far cage design, perches, etc.? Help would be much appreciated. Thx.

How caring of you to adopt this little finch. I know he'll have a wonderful home.

I had a canary who also had his leg amputated. He adjusted so well and used his wings to get around the cage. He always found a way to do whatever he wanted to!

One of the best sites I've found on accommodating handicapped birds is at

Be sure to post a picture! What is his name?
