Rub-a-dub dub, 14 lovies in the tub!

luvmiburds Jan 30, 2005 01:22 AM

I need your opinion on myself bathing the 14 lovebirds in the tub, I only fill It up enough till its at the tip of there feathers, they get a little panicky when they first go in, but that fear subsides and they just wander around the tub and running (well flapping) up and down, but for some reason they thing the water is deeper than they think because after a while i end up with a totem pole of lovebirds, which I have to knock down, But as they bathe in the tub, I never ever leave them alone for 1 second. (just like a parent with a new baby) Is this a good idea or should i be doing them 2 or 3 at a time?

I would not put them in the tub like that. If you get a shallow dish, like a pie tin, and put it in/on their play area they will bathe when they want to. Our babies bathe all the time in a pie pan. I empty the water and rinse it out every day to make sure it doesn't build bacteria. If the tin gets to dirty or whatever you can throw it away. I wouldn't leave it in the cage though because I wouldn't want them to chew on it. You can use any shallow dish though. I would just let them bathe at their own leisure.
