Hi. I am new to birds. I've been considering getting a pair of zebra or society finches, but I am a busy grad student living in an apartment, so I do not plan to breed my finches. Can someone answer my 2 questions?
1). I like the male birds for their songs and patterns(zebra). The pet store worker told me that 2 males will fight constantly, even though the book I had on finches said that 2 males in 1 cage is fine. Can people with just a pair of male zebras/societies comment on that? Do they still sing if there's no female present?
2). Can a zebra finch breed with a society finch? If not, can I get a pair consisting of a zebra and a society to eliminate the breeding problems but still have a male and a female?
