Yesterday afternoon my mom was cleaning out the canary cage and decided to take one of the canaries out so that the little boy she was watching could pet him. When she was going to take him back he fluttered a bit to try and escape but she caught him. She actual thought she might have hurt his little leg (not because she grabbed him by them but because of the way they were cradled around her fingers). When she took a peek, to our horror, all of his precious tail feathers fell to the ground. It was such a horrible experience, for us. He seems fine. When she went to put him back in the cage he didn't jump in as he usually does so my mom put her had next to one of the perches so he could jump on that. He does seem fine; he eats and drinks. The only thing is I don't think he chirped at all yesterday and he's our chirper, even if he's not in the mood to sing he's always chirping.
Will the tail feathers grow back? Is he in some kind of danger until they do? I'm so worried about him?
