I live in Miami and I was in a pet store today that had about a dozen red headed parrot finches. I have raised Gouldians, zebras, and society finches before and have always been intrigued by the red headed parrot finch. I understand they are not sexually dimorphic even though people often claim to have means of eye sexing them. Since I cannot afford to buy half the birds in the hopes of obtaining a pair, can anybody give me a suggestion on increasing my chances of selecting a pair based on observation or does anybody know of any breeders in my area who could assist me in obtaining a sexed pair?
Also, I have been thinking of obtaining a pair of Goulds after years of being out of raising them. I prefer the red headed normals but most of the pet stores down here carry the various mutations or only males. I'm looking for a recommendation on a breeder or breeders near me who raise good quality normal red headed Goulds. I don't mind if they raise other mutations but I am only interested in true normals, not ones that appear normal but are split to other color mutations (if such Goulds even exist any more). Thanks!
John
