Carpet pythons first shed / first meal question

MrTee Oct 12, 2003 01:50 PM

My son bought a CP, and it hasn't had its first shed yet. He was told not to feed it until it did ( shed ).
It this correct? Why?
We're getting pretty worried about it.
Please respond ASAP.

Thanks, Ernie

I think you might get some conflicting points of view here. I've fed baby snakes before their first shed with no problems. Of course I fed them small enough items that it didn't leave a lump in them (which may make it a little troublesome for them to shed with ease). I think if they'll accept their first meal sooner, give it to them.

hold the fort a real question....

well are you sure it is his first shed? where did he buy it from? how big is it?

i would say go ahead and feed it a little pink and let that bad boy eat, he needs to start growing. i also ask if you are sure he hasnt shed, cause most places wont sell unless they have shed and fed...im a poet and didnt know it...lol like i said let him eat. and congrats on the new addition, make sure his cage is good to go with the right heat gradients and climbing toys

The next time the shuttle lands, lets all get dressed up in ape suits and charge at the astronaughts yelling and ranting. That way they can try to figure out where they took a wrong turn.

froggy,
We bought it from a shop owner we know here in Az.
All its cage mates have shed, and the last one shed the day we got ours.
The dealer let us take it knowing, we knew, it hadn't shed.
He's a good guy and a friend.
I'm going to try to feed it today, I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks for the replies,
Ernie
