should I go to the vet?

Sandrolina Oct 18, 2004 05:27 AM

my cockatiel has got a little black spot above her left nostril which wasn't there before. It's tiny (like the tip of a pen) but seems to be growing ever so slowly. Behaviourally she's fine, I don't think she's scratching at it either, but I'm worried. the last time she was in contact with other birds was August when she stayed at a birdie hotel while I was on my holidays. She could have picked up something? her cage-buddy, a kakariki, looks fine. Should I take her to the vet?

I`d be concerned about it. Especially if it`s growing!

My tiel had a bump growing just under one of her nostrils. I was about to take her to the vet when it seemed to pop and go away. I think it was an ingrown face feather or something. But you never know. It would ease your mind if you knew what it was I think.

seeing as a vet consultation is only 6 pounds I'm erring on the side of caution and have made an appointment for tomorrow.
Mind you my vets are no avian experts by any means... meh, might as well get it checked out!
