Cockatiel Treats ??

FEESE Dec 09, 2004 09:22 PM

I want to give my cockatiel some treats. The pet store had some "trail-mix" in a bag... cost around $5 ....
My question is, can I go to the grocery store and feed her the normal 'trail-mix' with nuts and dried fruit that is sold in the bulk foods section? (alot cheaper)
What is the difference in the two? Looking at them they seem very alike. Thanks to those who reply.

As long as it is something safe for the birds to eat, buying at the grocery store may be a healthier (and cheaper) option.

What is sold as human food basically has to have a lower concentration of rat and insect contamination than does that sold on the pet market. Also, dealing in larger volume through grocery sources lowers the price, as it does not require specialty handling and marketing.
