Hello,im new here. I also belong to another cockatiel board. Although im only 15, I know a great deal about cockatiels, as I have done ALOT of reasearch, have already breed my pair once(they are on their second clutch right now, just started laying on 5/30 and we are now up to 3 eggs, and have learned a GREAT deal of information on the other board and I am hoping to do the same with this board. Anyways here are some pics. This first pic is of the mommy, Tiko. This pic was actually taken today of her defending her eggs. She is a WF pearl split to pied. Dontcha just hate how they insist on pooing on the wood where it stains instead of on the bedding where you can just pick it out until the babys are hatched? I never scrub the box until the babys are about a week old. I take them out and scrub it with water and vineger, let it dry, and put fresh bedding in.

He is a Single Factor Domaniant Silver split to cinnomon and pied. LOL...thats alot for one little bird. I thought he was a cinnomon split to pied at first but then I noticed the "pearl" looking markings. So I sent the pics to a bunch of breeders and even they had a hard time figuring out what he was. But they finally did. ...aint he gorgeouse? Thats his mate next to him and the pied in the background you can barely see is one of their babys.

This is the first clutch they have evr had. And, like I said in the first post, they are starting on their second. The first baby(from left to right) is a plain cinnomon, her name is Kwahu. The second baby is a cinnomon split to pied, her name is Dyami. The third baby is Remi, he is a normal grey split to pied, he is the only one im keeping, and he will someday be breed with Petey, she is a cinnomon pearl(or so I think). And the last one is a grey pied, his name is Paco. All these names except for Remi mean Eagel in diffrent Native American languages.

Jessica,

You have done a wonderful job with your birds. They are beautiful. Good luck to you with your next clutch.

Hi,

Very pretty birds! My pair are on the nest too. first time with fertile eggs. Did you hand feed, or just handle the chicks alot?
By the color of the offspring, your male is definatly cinnamon. It is hard to tell, but the fact that the female chicks turned out cinnamon tells all. See, cinnamon is sex linked, meaning all female chicks from a cinn. father will be cinn. All male chicks from a female cinn would be cinn.
Here is a great site that has a program that allows you to calculate the offsprings genetics:
