rrstephenson Jul 15, 2006 11:00 AM

hi .. i am new here and a fairly new cockatail owner. we rescued one and purchased the other.

well on to the quesion... i use wood shavings in the bottom of my cage, and now they are nesting in the bottom of the cage. they have a breeding box but aren't using it. if this is comon would some one please let me know, just worried about them.

i have been trying to find information on cage breeding on the net and some books i have but there is nothing about them nesting in the cage. if anyone can help please e-mail at rrstephenson@alltel.net

hi i breed cockatiels i have been breeding for a year now. I recommend you remove the wood shavings from the bottom of the cage and replace it with newspaper. Also what size nest box have you got for them? i use a 12inche wide by 24inche high nest box. I also use wood pieces for nesting material, I also feed fresh fruit and veggies everyday to every 2nd day. They also always have a calcium perch and cuttlefish in there cage at all times.
