for the past day or so my bird has been having diarrea. im going to try to put some grapefruit seed extract in their water. is there anything else i can do?

First of all is he having anything a little different lately. Extra fruit or lettuce? That causes diarrhea, Or have you noticed him drinking alot of water?

I do think you should take him to a vet, it could be a medical problem.

My tiel has had diarrea off and on for years. The first time, I took her to the vet & they couldn't find anything wrong with her, so I just ignore it now and it always goes away in 2-3 days. You may want to check it out, tho, since it could be something serious. If my bird's diarrea doesn't go away in a couple days, I'd surely take her in again.
