temps and native cockatiels

seductivereptile Apr 22, 2007 12:27 AM

Ok, I have a question for our Australian tiel lovers. What temps do cockatiels enjoy in their native land? I want to keep the temps compatable here for my tiels.

Btw.. both are doing well after two weeks of love, affection and yummy treats, they are acting like little sweeties. My female is still a bit shy, but coming along well. Thanks to everyone here... sorry I ask so many questions, but I am so new to the birdy world. Now if I could just decide on some nice Australian names for them, we would be set.

That can depend on which part of the country they are in. It can vary. We don't have them here. Most are around the deserts areas, stinking hot but really cold at nights. They can also stick around river beds etc in the more humid sub tropical regions.

They're adaptable when it comes to temps but you should be fine as long as they're not stuck outside in cold weather, no where near drafts & winds, out of heat etc.

My tiel LOVES the heat & humidity, but he also copes really with the icy cold weather we get in winter. Yours will adapt to your normal temps as long as they aren't extreme.
