I have an air cleaner next to my bird cages and I found out something interesting today. I read in a book that using an ionizer would help people with dust allergies. Well, my air cleaner has an ionizer on it, so I turned it on today. About twenty minutes later, I touched the cage and it shocked me, not a huge jolt, but a little buzz. I am sure the birds would have freaked out if it were happening to them, so I turned the ionizer off, it doesn't shock now. I have never been a huge fan of ionizers, since they aren't good for people with asthma, so I have never used that feature on any of mine. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience. The birds seem to love the fresh clean air from the air cleaner and enjoy playing with the lights on it. Btw.. there is no teflon on the machine and the cord is on the bottom and not in their reach, also no fans that could be dangerous for them, just in case you need to know.
