Hello everyone. I'm new here and have a question:
I have 11 tiels..most of them paired. This male tiel plucks his mates feathers..it started about 6 months ago ( was minor then..crest feathers) and now shes got a bald head and a swatch of about 1" of baldness down her back.I'm worried because she bleeds sometimes and I'm also worried about infections.
I've tried separating them to let her feathers grow back but he shrieks non stop .Is there anything I can spray on her to make him stop?
I've heard bitter apple may help..has anyone tried this?
PS: He even plucks my hair sometimes when I lean into the cage to feed them.If another tiel is on a perch below him, he plucks their crest feathers off.
