sneezing

seductivereptile May 17, 2007 12:16 AM

My female tiel sneezes like every other day, mainly after I mist her.. should I be worried that she has Psittacosis? She doesn't sneeze a lot and her droppings look normal, eyes clear, eating well. I am such a worry-wart but I thought I would ask. She seems to do it about a half hour after I mist her, could she be getting water in her nose? Thanks!

It sounds like water is going up his nose. You do need to be careful he doesn't get too much water up his nose. Also if there is no nose discharged he should be fine.

Cokcatiels can sometimes sneeze a little more than other birds because they're dusty birds but even this shouldn't be too often. You do often see tiel sneeze while preeing & cleaning themselves, this is normal as they're stiring up their own dust.
