when will he eat?

greg woodie May 28, 2003 12:14 AM

i've had my Eastern Milk snake for almost a month now. he drinks but he won't eat. just the other day, i tried him with pinkies, a Fence lizard and a Worm snake. he looked semi-interested, but then burrowed under the aspen. i had him sexed yesterday and he's definitely male. does anyone know when the breeding urge might wear off, ie assuming he's old enough to breed? thanks for the info!

Hi Greg, I'm glad you didn't wait any longer to give us an update on his progress, or lack of it. You can try giving him a little more time if you want to. Just make sure he does not loose to much weight. Try using thawed fuzzies, and pierce the brain with a tooth pick or some other pionty tool. Spread some of the brain matter over the head and face of the fuzzy, and place it in his hide box. This can work for some difficult feeders, so try it soon. I would recommend releasing him if this doesn't work, and if there is no change after a few more weeks. Easterns do not always take well to captivity, so don't feel bad if that happens. Good luck, I'm crossing my fingers for you.
