eye problems

gyke Oct 12, 2003 03:06 PM

I have benn having problems with one of my females for a few months now. She stopped eatoing when she had eggs a couple of months ago and has only gotten worse. I finally had to seperate her form the other female and male she was with because they were constantly attacking her. Right now I am giving her antibiotics and a food supplement and she seems to be getting better. The only part that still bothers me is her one eye won't open and when she does open it it is nearly all brown and you can only see the very tip of the pupil at the bottom. Any idea on what this could be? Also I cannot figure out how she had gotten sick in the first place. Nothing was changed in the cage and the other two are doing great. Any ideas on what could have caused this? Thanks.

My male had a similar problem a few months ago... I noticed his eye looked sort of goopy & swollen & he would not open it unless he had to. I looked really close & noticed there was a little brown thing sticking out of the corner of his eye. It turned out he had a large piece of substrate (a chunk of Bed-a-Beast) stuck underneath his eye! I ended up pulling it out with tweezers & it was back to normal the next day. Not sure if that's what's wrong with your dragon but it won't hurt to examine his eye closely.
