Hello, I was wondering if there is a way I could clean out my budgies nostril, or should I take him to the vet?
It would be best at least the first time to take it to a vet. Also this will help to make sure what is causing the blockage since it could be the result of a respiratory infection. Then if it recurs you could have seen first hand someone doing this and be better able to do it yourself. Depending on what is blocking the nostril and how badly it is blocked the vet may do it in a few different ways. One would be a saline flush, using a syringe or bulb to squirt a saline solution into the nostril and helping to unplug it. They will sometimes also use a small cuetip (sp?) wettened in a saline solution to dap out the blockage. Again the first time would be best to be with an avian vet. Good luck!
Thank you! I think I will take him to the vet. Better to be safe than sorry.
Take care,
Aspa
