Well okay lets start on dietary requirements. Pellets are a good basis. Usually the zupreem naturals for parrots or medium birds works well. Millet sprays are good for treats and they seem to love peanuts even though they are quite fatty and should be only used occassionally. They need to be offered a variety of vegetables, pasta and fruit daily. It can be offered in many ways. Ours likes them mixed together in a birdy salad or skewered and hung in their cage. It may take a while to get him on a healthy diet but it is well worth it. Some you could try are greens such as collard, mustard and turnip. Good vitamin A veggies such as winter squashes, sweet potato and even some carrots and broccoli. Other veggies like green beans, corn, peas, beans, etc. They sometimes like dry pasta or even cooked pasta, ours loves the multicolored vegetable rotini. Also fruits can be offered but in moderation because they cause loose stools and many birds will eat only them and not the other healthier foods if give the choice. You can try mango, papaya, or even banana, apples and grapes. Most are good for your birds but of course no chocolate, rhubarb, and many say no onion.
He will need a wellness checkup at the local vet.
Be very patient and give lots of attention but try to ignore the screams and not give attention while screaming. Instead wait until he quiets and then pay attention to him so he learns he is rewarded for good behavior and not for the screams. If you have any other specific questions please feel free to ask!
