2yr old parkeet twtiching

shame Apr 12, 2007 10:18 AM

This morning when we got up I noticed that one of our keets was fluttering a little more than normal, although sometimes they just do that when they're restless in the morning.....so after futher inspection I saw that one was slightly favoring one leg but there are no visible signes of injury and she can still perch on it....then while sitting on my finger I noticed that she was twitching a little bit....just wondering if anyone has seen the twitching before, or is it common to a sick or injured bird?

I'm not sure if I have seen the twitching you are talking of. I have seen birds that will fluff up more or "flutter" around more when sick or injured. Birds especially of this size try to hide injuries and sickness to such a degree it can be almost impossible to know they are sick until it is too late. If you are unsure or if they have never seen a vet this might be the time for a checkup.
