Blind Pakakeet

somboon Jun 11, 2007 11:04 AM

I have a parakeet that is completely blind I think. He (it is a male) may be able to see shadows but for all purposes he is blind. His eyes are very cloudy, but he blinks normally.

He can find the food and water bowls ok and when I regularly take him out he'll sit on my finger to eat and drink.

Right now he's in a cage with another female that doesn't pay him much attention, but I plan to get him his own, small cage and put a perch about a half inch off the floor.

If anyone can offer any other tips on how to care for this guy I'd appreciate it.

Ya know I just ran into that same problem of mine. Your parakeet seems to be doing better than mine though. My only advise would be to make sure he knows your in the room, don't sneek up on him.
