Honestly, I have never really been around lovebirds before. But my experience with other parrots will answer this question. I can always tell a baby by the eyes, they are darker than an adult's. another way to tell is the size, they are often not as filled out as much. Older birds look old alot of the time, feathers don't look proper and are not as colorful as they once were. I guess I would need to see a picture to give my opinon on the age.

Awe, how cute! He looks farily young to me, I can't explain why, but I can always tell a young bird by the eyes even if the color is the same as an adults, like in a petshop the budgies that have already had their first molt and you can't tell by the bars on their head anymore, the eyes just look babyish, and people are like, thats an adult bird, look at it's head! And I'll ask a clerk and sure enough the budgie is still a baby. So because I can't tell by a picture how dark your Jack's eyes are, and I can alot of times tell without that clue, I would say that Jack is fairly young.
