I just got my daughter a parakeet a few days ago. I was wondering if I should have gotten two. What I the best way? I really want to make sure the bird bonds to my daughter not another bird.
Thanks

You will here a lot of varying opinions on this subject. In my personal opinion it is better to have only one bird if you are wanting it to bond with you, two if you are not able to give it as much time and attention and want it not to bond as closely with you or a family member. Usually I suggest to keep only one bird until the bird is completely tame and seems to enjoy the companionship and time spent with its human friends. Then it is purely up to you whether you would like another, even then if you want it bonded to you and not each other it usually works better if they are kept in separate cages so that they can "talk" to each other and see each other but not rely on each other for close companionship. Again this is only my opinion and I'm sure others will vary.
