mostly in a good way, but sometimes.....
so i go to the bird fair in medina to get some new toys, and treats and other stuff for the caiques, and the quaker, and what the hell do i come home with?
a 3 month old blue and gold!!!!
picked up the giant cage last night, and put it together....i am sooo sore! the thing barely fit in my suv, and that was even with the headrests taken off, and i had to drive like i was 80, all scrunched up to the steering wheel, and bent over....then trying to get a big flat, 125 pound box, and a 50 pound box into the house by yourself? i'm glad it was dark out, so no one could see me struggling....i'm sure it sounded pretty funny though....
the baby, we think she's a she, her name is 'kai' rhymes with sky, and means 'sun' in hawaiian, and 'willow tree' in navajo, is an amazing little being. but not a caique, so i'll have a bunch of questions. the first one being.... i'm used to the eeks, and how they play, all rough and tumble, rolling over and wrestling , using their little feet and beaks. kai will do that too? maybe not the rolling over part, but last night, i took her upstairs with me so she could walk around on the bed while i put my jammies on, and then i laid down to watch her, then she started playing! it had to be playing! she would grab my finger, or step on it, and then duck her head back and kinda bite the top of her wing, she almost rolled over a couple of times, and never did she get aggressive, or act fearful. i was laughing , but i want to make sure i don't do anything 'wrong' in raising her. i love her to death, and the dogs seem to, especially the littlest one, and the caiques think she is the coolest thing ever. olive is two, and acts like kai is her baby! ranger is only 5 months, and he pretty much just annoys her, and wants to be cool like her and hang out. typical little brother. =]
anybody have any good sites on watching macaws play?
