I've been thinking of ordering some silkie bantam eggs from eggbid.com, and having them shipped to me. I really only want one chicken(female), and I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with hatching eggs that were shipped. I also live in the middle of a city, I'm not sure about laws, but hey, I don't really think it would bother anyone, or matter so long as it's cared for properly, and if nothing, my pets are always well cared for. But, does anyone here know how chickens fare in the city? I have a small backyard, but there's lots of cats in the neighborhood, so it might not go out often. Also, what do silkies eat? I've read up on the hatching eggs thing so I'm okay there, but I don't see much on their diets anywhere. I wont get one if I can't provide a good home for one, so any help would be appreciated, advice, anything.
