Strange Question

Muscy_Mel Sep 09, 2004 07:52 AM

Hi,

Last year my female Indian Runner, Sophie, had a hysterectomy as she was egg-bound. She passed the operation with flying colours and recovered very quickly and well. But, earlier this year she proved the odds wrong again by producing an egg, although she couldn't lay the egg as part of her reproductive tract had been removed. After consulting the same Vet, i was advised to leave her alone to see if she would reabsorb the egg, otherwise it would mean another op. She did reabsorb it, and since has had no further problems, but i was just wondering if anyone has had any similar situations and the outcome?

Thanx, Mel X

I have never heard of a duck having a hysterectomy? What was involved with the procedure?
