cage idea

str33tsk8rx Oct 12, 2003 05:26 PM

i was looking for some cage ideas for bearded dragons and i stumbled upon this cage at cagesbydesign.com :
(i couldnt upload the pic but heres the link - http://www.cagesbydesign.com/testimonials.asp ,scroll down until you see the pic of the cage with two bearded dragons in it)

this gave me an idea. maybe i could use a reptarium to create a similar habitat with the basking spot high up just like in the pic. Would that work? what do u guys think??

Reptariums can have some difficulty holding in heat since they are mesh. They aren't sturdy enough to hang any wood pcs. like in the picture. Though that set up is way cool.

IMO, reptariuums are used best for outside sunning.

Arrgggg! Reptariums are ok for sunning cages etc, but I once tried housing some young dragons in them. Every time I went to open the darn zipper it would snag and stick. Drove me nuts!!

would it be ok to use a reptarium as a BD's main enclosure? i have heard many pro's and cons regarding this but i still dont know - AQUARIUMS OR REPTARIUMS? has any one had any experience with repatariums?? what are your thoughts on this???

I'd go with an aquarium. Reptariums are mainly taller cages, and harder to retain heat in. They're mainly for chameleons and some other things. (I've heard of people using them for cuban knight anoles --- anyone else use them for other things?)
