Duck Space

iyiy Apr 04, 2005 03:07 AM

Is there a minimum amount of space for two ducks to live in? If there is, would four ducks just be double that? If you use measurements, please post them in metric form e.g square metres.
Also, do ducks of different ages get along well with each other? And how old do ducklings have to be before they can live with other ducks (not parents or relatives).

AND IF someone HAPPENS to live in around Christchurch NZ, PLEASE tell me where I can get some ducklings!

Hey,

Generally the larger the space the better it is for the ducks. But for small breeds of duck, at least 4M square for 2-4 ducks is required. And double that space for the same number of larger ducks. Although as i said give them as much space as possible.

Ducks of all ages can live together, although i strongly wouldn't advice putting young ducklings with any other ducks apart from the mother. Make sure the ducklings have grown their full plumage (2-3 months old) before they are put with other ducks, mainly any other males you may have.
