lmnelson Apr 15, 2005 07:52 PM

Hi today i got 6 duck eggs(mallard duck eggs) and i have them in a 5 gallon tank with a cup of water a 25 watt bulb on them and a towel. Do u think they will hatch or should i do something else? Is it true they are supposed to be green cause i read that somewhere and mine are white!?

hi, i have roeuns which are supposed to have a greenish egg but all of the eggs that have been laid are white.

are rouens a type of bird or duck?

Muscy_Mel Apr 16, 2005 11:22 AM

Hey,

Rouens are a domestic breed of duck.
All birds eggs do have a colour range, most ducks eggs are descirbed as green, but its perfectly normal for the eggs to have slight colour variations such as white, pale green, patchy blues and greens and light blue. You may notice a different coloured egg every few days.

If your incubating the eggs, make sure that you have the correct temperature, humidity and turn the eggs often.
These factors determines the health and growth of the embroys/ducklings.

I have 6 duck eggs right now in an incubator and i was wondering how many days until i should see something in them when i candle them if they are alive?

muscy_mel Apr 16, 2005 04:46 PM

Hi,

In some cases you may able to tell if an egg is fertile by candling even after 24 - 48 hours after incubation started. But i normally check mine after about a week.
A few websites show pictures of the development stages of a growing chick/duckling.
